MY STORY

Justine Popik

With a career spanning over two decades, Justine has performed in a wide variety of ensembles and venues. Highlights include the renowned stages of David Geffen Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York and Symphony Hall in Boston. Justine has toured across Europe, having performed intermittently with the Vienna Orchesterverein in Vienna, Austria. Other performance engagements have included The Cape Symphony, S.E.M Ensemble, The Canadian Chamber Orchestra of New York City, Bronx Opera Company, Garden State Philharmonic and Richmond County Orchestra. Throughout her career, Justine has performed under the esteemed baton of Maestros Kurt Masur, Petr Kotik, Peter Bay and Carl St. Clair. During her tenure at Manhattan School of Music, Justine was a winner of the Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition. She can be heard on Ithaca College’s award-winning recording of Rite of Spring and Femme Fatale, featuring premier works by New York City-based composer Tom Haas. Passionate about sharing the joy of music and empowering youth, Justine has served as a mentor for the Manhattan School of Music Precollege program, as well as the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens. Her active K-adult studio guides students through their development as artists, offering additional support through All-State, District, and youth orchestra auditions. Justine fosters a teaching environment where students feel encouraged to learn, grow and achieve their highest potential. She has experience teaching students on oboe, saxophone, clarinet, flute and beginner level piano. Justine holds a BM in Oboe Performance from Ithaca College and an MM in Classical Oboe from Manhattan School of Music. Additional study brought her to the Hot Spring Music Festival and the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. Her primary teachers have included Robert Botti, Paige Morgan, Joseph Salvalaggio and Margaret Herlehy. In her free time, Justine enjoys running marathons and finding the perfect cup of coffee.
